The Snipe is a distinctive wader with a long bill that can be seen in coastal areas and wetlands anywhere in Ireland. Numbers in summer are small but winter visitors from Iceland and Northern Europe boost the numbers

Best Sites

Snipe can be difficult to see as they feed at night. Watch out for them along estuaries, reed beds and damp grassland areas.
