Birding Locations Ireland
Broadmeadows Estuary is located in Swords in North County Dublin, Ireland. It is a popular location for bird watching in Dublin and an ideal location for bird photography. If you are travelling from Dublin, take the M1 motorway from Dublin to Belfast. Exit the motorway at the airport exit and head North for Swords. When you drive past Airside Retail Park, you will come to a roundabout. Go straight through it, and also straight through the next one, heading for Belfast. Take the third exit at the next roundabout (turn right) and drive about one Kilometer to the estuary. Turn right and you will come to a lay-by for parking in just a few hundred metres.
The estuary at low tide is good for spotting Black Tailed and Bar Tailed Godwits, Greenshank, Redshank, Golden Plovers, Brent Geese, Teal, Mallard, Lapwings, Snipe and occasionally Ruff, in Autumn and Spring.
